Catherine is a student intern at Interior Castle Counseling as she completes
her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. She has a long and
varied history of work/career experience including early childhood and
elementary education, middle and high school bilingual education,
commercial scale gardening, professional vegetarian cook/caterer, and retail
management. She is also a mother of two (now grown and flown!) children.
She believes that all of these professions (including and especially
motherhood) have led her to the path of counseling therapy and have
provided her with a strong foundation of insight into the human condition.
She believes that each person is unique and has a rich story to tell and that
working with people (and their stories) is, for her, one of life’s greatest
pleasures. She also believes that because everyone is unique, there is no one
or best way to “do therapy” so she uses a variety of modalities and techniques
to address the issues that people bring to her counsel. Some of her favorite
orientations include: Relational Cultural Therapy, Narrative Therapy,
Nonviolent Communication, Somatic/Experiential Therapies and Yogic
practices. Catherine is warm and welcoming of all people and identities.
